If you love going on big shopping vacations to find cheap yet high-quality goods, then book a Batam hotel or resort. While Indonesia is generally an affordable shopping destination, the fact that this part of the country is a duty-free zone will certainly tickle your fancy even more. At Batam, you will be welcomed with a good number of big malls that house a wide range of stores and other convenience centers.

1. Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre
Let's start off with largest mall in Batam, Nagoya Hill. Located along Jalan Sultan Abdurahman, this 3-story shopping center opened in 2007. It houses a branch of Hypermart, a famous network of hypermarkets with over 100 branches all over Indonesia. After shopping and grabbing a bite to eat in the several food outlets here, you may catch a flick at Cinema 21 on the topmost floor.

2. Diamond City Mall (DC Mall)
Cross out that fine batik off your shopping list by visiting Diamond City Mall along Jalan Duyung. More than half of the stores here sell this popular traditional fabric, so you can easily find one that fits your liking the most. Another attraction here is the electronics section, where you'll find a collection of stores that offer new and old computers.

3. Mega Mall Shopping Centre
Connected directly with Batam Centre Ferry Terminal, Mega Mall Shopping Centre along Jalan Engku Putri is another big player in the island's business and commercial tourism industry. It has 5 floors and an assortment of goods that include electronics, apparel, and even furniture. Here, you will find another branch of Hypermart. Also, this mall in Batam near beach resorts lets you view the latest movies in its Cinema 21.

4. Harbour Bay Mall
Home to more than 80 shops plus a Carrefour Supermarket and a Cineplex, Harbour Bay Shopping Centre stands along Jalan Putri Duyung near Harbour Bay. With the slew of pubs and restaurants within its vicinity, it is also a great starting point for a fun-filled night out with family and friends.

5. Batam City Square Mall (BCS Mall)
Batam City Square Mall along Jalan Bunga Raya may not be the biggest shopping center here, but it's a great place to visit if you want to load up on cash. For one, on its first level is an ATM that lets you withdraw Singaporean Dollars into Rupiahs for a minimal fee. Also, money changing centers here have exchange rates that are higher compared to those in Singapore. Aside from these very practical features, BCS Mall also offers family-friendly attractions, namely TimeZone and The Monic Family Karaoke.

All these malls are located just minutes away from the best Batam, Indonesia resorts, such as TuriBeach along Jalan Hang Lekiu in Nongsa.
